Veronica Callanan - Addictions Therapist, Coach, Broadcaster, Recovered Alcoholic
I am successful therapist, coach, writer, broadcaster and consultant specialising in alcohol and drug addictions.
I work as a therapist specialising in addiction for over 5 years; my experience includes working with young people in the criminal justice system, primary care adult treatment, outreach services and in private practice. As a recovered alcoholic and drug addict I have personal experience of what it takes to recover from an addiction. I struggled with alcoholism through most of my twenties, as a binge drinker I was aware for sometime that something was wrong but was unable to define what it was, a chance meeting led to me finally getting help and turning my life around. In the height of addiction I was unable to go to work without the aid of a drink, although never a daily drinker my life and confidence were in tatters. I now uses this experience to help and inspire others, I fully believes that all alcoholics and addicts can recover if they have access to the right kind of help they can then go on to live 100% lives free from addiction.
I am committed to educating and informing the public on problem drinking and addiction.
I appear regularly on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire as a specialist guest, i have also appeared on the Lorraine Kelly show and in national magazines and publications talking about recovery from alcoholism.
I am the co-founder of The Development Centre a private clinic in Cambridge treating addictions and Beat Addiction Now a website designed to provide support and interventions on-line.
